Conversation about "Nocturnos" by Nicolás Combarro at NORDÉS A Coruña, Friday 26th, 20 h.
We are pleased to invite you to the conversation between Iago Carro (Ergosfera) and Nicolás Combarro, about "Nocturnos", a current exhibition at the Galería Nordés in its space in Santiago de Compostela.
Moderated by the curator Marta Ramos-Yzquierdo.
Friday 26th at 20 h. at Nordés, A Coruña
(3, Ramón de la Sagra Street).
In "Nocturnos", Nicolás Combarro brings us closer to themes related to the architecture of fascist repression in Spain and France. Specifically, he focuses on the spaces of repression (concentration camps, penitentiary colonies, prisons, etc.) where Spanish Republicans were held in both countries, from the Civil War to the end of Franco's regime in the case of Spain, and from the "law for undesirable foreigners" of 1938 to the 1940s/50s in the case of France.
For his part, Iago Carro, through the Ergosfera platform, has worked on various themes related to architecture and its limits, addressing relationships such as architecture-prison, architecture-border, or architecture-control.
The dialogue between the two, moderated by Marta Ramos-Yzquierdo, will draw parables between the past and the present of the use of architecture as a Foucauldian form of control and punishment, shedding some light on dark areas of our history and our present.
During the presentation we will have the opportunity to review several projects of both speakers and we will be able to see in situ some pieces of the project that Nicolás Combarro presents in the Nordés space in Santiago de Compostela.
